Three Land Guards Remanded in Custody

Three persons, who styled themselves as land guards, were remanded in custody when they appeared before an Accra circuit tribunal charged with offensive conduct conducive to a breach of the peace. Benmaga Obuo, 33, Udensi Iheke, 24, barber, and Polycern Oblijaw Gan, 24, farmer, pleaded not guilty. They will reappear on July 3rd.

Police Inspector Alex Yartey Tawiah told the tribunal, presided over by Mrs Elizabeth Anderson Yeboah, that in June, this year, police has information that on instruction of certain chiefs, some land guards were provoking and threatening plot owners and developers at Israel, a suburb of Acccra.

The prosecution said on June 13, police combed the areas and arrested the three persons for terrorising land developers. gri
