Ace hip-life artiste and one of the country’s best Ga rappers, Shilo a.k.a David Amankwah is in the news again.

This time round, he is not doing collaboration with another artist but taking pride in his works which is attracting attention.

Managers and producers from Ghana and abroad who have had the opportunity to listen to bits and pieces of his yet-to-be released album have started chasing him to sign contracts with their record labels.

Credible information has it that just last week, two United States based record labels and another from Germany approached him for a deal.

Though an Ashanti from Ejura Sekyedumasi, Shilo has mastered the Ga language like his mother tongue.

Most of his fans get surprised on hearing that he is Akan.

This is what has set many Producers and Managers from both home and abroad, chasing for his signature.

The ‘hello, otsemilo’ being approached by a couple of Managers and Producers but would however not disclose the details of what transpired between him and them.

For now, he says his concentration is on how to put finishing touches to his yet-to-be released album.

After recording, he says he would take a decision on which direction he wants to go but until then, his focus is on the studio.

Shilo started his music career somewhere in the year 2000 when he completed Accra Academy.

He then met one of the finest Sound Engineers in town, ‘J. Q’ otherwise known as Jeff Quaye who introduced him into the Ghanaian Music Industry.

Having listened to his captivating lyrics, most hiplife artiste wanted to feature him on their album.

Only a few however including the likes of Dr Poh, Screw and Castro managed to win him to their side.

In his first collaboration with Dr Poh, Shilo on his ‘Na who cos am, Shilo introduced the catch phrase ‘hello, otsemilo’ which has since become his sigtune as he says on virtually every sound he features on including Castro’s ‘Boneshaker’.

The Chap mastered the ‘hello, otsemilo’ on his maiden album, ‘Gege style’ which though was a hit, did not get the needed airplay promotion.

After his maiden album, he was adjudged one of the best Ga rappers in modern Ghanaian hiplife music, whilst he rubs shoulders with likes of Tiny and Bright formerly of Buk-Bak fame.

Realizing his potential, Shilo took the opportunity to do collaboration with Castro and Screwface under the name (Cashface) to come with an album ‘Soo far so good’.

He has since gone underground to record another album which is set to be a hit.

After listening to bits and pieces of the album, this reporter concluded there is no way the album cannot hit, provided it gets the needed airplay and promotion.

Shilo was under ‘Q Lex’ Entertainment but have since left to do his own thing.
