Ten Years of hiplife and Sidney Ofori (best known simply Sidney) has decided to go on a 3 years break from the industry.
Though his current controversial album ‘Obia Nye Obia’ is not doing bad, the question one would ask is why he wants to take such a long vacation.
In an interview with the Train, he disclosed how he has yearned for a break in order to revitalize his energies and comeback well refresh for his fans.
He said a recent musical competition he attended in Benin made him discover the need to make his tunes more African instead of narrowing it down to only the Ghanaian audience.
According to him, during his three year break, he would have to labor on an album that would be purely African and would be patronized by Africans all over the continent and beyond.
“The next time I resurface with an album, it would be dedicated to Africa”, he said.
Additionally he noted that too much of everything is bad and so is music. The hiplife industry, he said, is no longer lucrative or creative as it used to be, thus the need to come out with something totally different from what is being heard.
Having studied marketing and advertising, he hopes to divert part of his time in that direction and develops his knowledge on the field.
He thanked his fans for coming all the way with him, explaining how unfortunate it would be to abandon them for 3 years, but promising to be back, hopefully more successfully than before.
When the train bade him farewell, your driver begun to ponder about this extraordinary musician.
Sidney, who begun his musical career way back in the 1990s, has never let his fans down in terms of music. He made it a point to always sign his signature on the lips of Ghanaians, as result of his controversial lyrics and mind-boggling ideas.
Though his fans will miss him greatly, he has deprived other musicians of their daily bread especially the lazy bones who will never write or create their own tunes, but rather wait for Sidney to create his so they can retaliate.
Well, bad news for them! And the earlier they familiarize with the ‘Do Re Me Fa So’ Keys and the accoutrements of music, the better for them.
The Train wishes him well and prays that God grants him favour to achieve his comeback dream, because your train driver never ceases to listen and watch its passengers.
