Recently, the sizeable number of music enthusiasts who thronged the Aviation Social ,near? the Kotoka International Airport to witness the launching of ‘Okyeso Nyame’, the fresh album of Stella Dugan, who wants to be known and addressed as Stella Seal, would attest to the fact that, the songstress is in a class of her own.
The launching ceremony which was attended by a few friends and loved ones (because the artiste wanted to be so) was as successful as when she launched her hit track ‘Ontonko’ a couple of years ago.
Indeed, the party singer needs no introduction in the gospel music landscape as the number of hit songs she had churned onto the local music market is enough proof of her talent and success.
‘Okyeso Nyame’ is a strongly worded piece in which the singer demonstrated so much confidence and faith in the almighty God above and believes that in spite of all her shortcomings, God would make it up for her.
The style of presentation and the kind of voice used to effect, the rendition of the piece is truly a mark of master craft.
Stella’s first album was all English one, “You’re In My Heart”, released in 1990 but it didn’t do well because it did not catch on with people at the time.
The following year, she recorded her second album, ‘Daadaa Nyinara’, which was a success.
The album was so successful, apart from the financial gains, it also won then Entertainment Critics and Reviewers Association of Ghana (ECRAG) award for Best Gospel Album of the Year.
Stella was adjudged as well, Singer of the Year by Rex Image Associates, then an entertainment outfit. She carried also the Distinguished Female Personality And Inspirational Voice of the Year Awards in her stride.
Stella has a number of albums to his credit, including ‘Ahenmanmu’, ‘Okura Yeema’, ‘Ontonko’ with the hit song ‘Gyem Taataa’, ‘King of Kings’ and ‘Oye Onyame’.
‘Okyeso Nyame’ is likely going to put the talented artiste where she had occupied over the years as one of the kingpins of Ghana gospel music.
