The first edition of GN Bank Awards came off on Saturday, 21 March 2015 at the Accra International Conference Center with many Ghanaian entertainers receiving awards for their good works.
The show hosted by multiple award-winning actor, Christ Attoh had awesome performances from musicians like Shatta Wale, Obaapa Christy, Joyce Blessing, Amakye Dede, Raquel, Efya and Wiyaala Noella.
After the March 21 event, winners of the awards were presented with their cash prize at a colourful event held at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra.
Zionfelix.com has gathered that some winners of GN Bank Awards have not received their cash prizes and their plaques.
Ebenzer Donkor aka NY DJ who was the runner-up for “Entertainment Journalist/Writer” category has told Zionfelix.com that he has not received his cash prize.
According to him, he was absent at the presentation of the cash on Tuesday 5th May 2015 but organisers have not called to inform him on how he can access his money.
NY DJ confirmed receiving his certificate as a first runner-up winner but the Gh1000 associated has not been given to him.
Entertainment journalist, Halifax Ansah-Addo, radio presenters, Caroline Simpson and Sokoo Hemaa who also won awards at 2015 GN Bank Awards told Zionfelix.com that they have received their cash prizes.
The three award-winners said they went for their money days after Spyder Lee Entertainment; organisers of the awards hosted the winners at Coconut Grove Regency Hotel to present their cash prizes to them.
Halifax Ansah-Addo however, revealed that he has not received the plaque for the award he won on the night of the awards as “Favourite Entertainment Journalist/Writer”.
He said organisers promised winners of presenting the plagues later due to change of name from “People’s Choice Awards” to “GN Bank Awards”.
“What I have not received is the original statuette. They said we should wait and that the original was going to be designed in New York or somewhere because they changed the name from People’s Choice to GN Bank and when they finish they will bring it. They have not brought that but with the cash, I have it” Halifax told Zionfelix.com.
Speaking to Chris Konney, coordinator for the awards, he said he has not received complaints from any of the winners concerning prizes.
When asked if all winners of the awards have received their cash prize, Chris Konney answered that “I cannot confirm if all winners have received their cash but on our part as organisers, we made sure we have done the presentation. We said to them this is what you need to go and take your cash.”
He confirmed that “Bola and co have received their cash because they took pictures and posted them on social media”.
He promised to call the winners to check if they have all received their cash prizes.
On the plaques which have not been given to the award-winners, Chris Konney told Zionfelix.com that they are in the country and will be delivered to the winners from next week.
