Members of the public are demanding more information on the energy crisis. A panel of discussants at a recent symposium called on the government to be bold enough to tell Ghanaians the truth about the crisis. They wondered why the government after being informed about a looming energy crisis as far back as 1985, took no firm action to avert it. The participants comprised journalists, parliamentarians, energy consultants and experts, educationists and officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Volta River Authority (VRA). The symposium was organised by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) The Speakers included Dr Charles Wereko Brobby, an energy consultant, Mr G. D. Boateng, Director Technical Services VRA, Mr Kwamena Longdon of the ECG. Dr K. B. Asante, a former diplomat presided.
