Wonderful Performance!

Sun, 7 Dec 2003 Source: ghanamusic.com

Professor Kwabena Nketia With Dawn Padmore Emeritus Professor J. H. Kwabena Nketia, one of Ghana?s most celebrated composers of modern African Art music and also an ethnomusicologist had some of his works performed by Ensemble Noir, an orchestra from Canada recently at the National theatre.

The Ensemble Noir, a Toronto-based classical music ensemble made up of performers from different cultural backgrounds performed works of other African musicians such as Akin Euba from Nigeria and that of Bongani Ndonana of South Africa in addition to those of Pamela Attariwala, of Canada among others.

Dawn Padmore, a Toronto-based Liberian, who is the Soprano of the group, performed the works of Akin Euba in Yoruba and that of J.H. Kwabena Nketia in Akan creditably to applause from the audience.

In this picture by Nii Addokwei Moffatt, Professor Kwabena Nketia seems to be telling Dawn Padmore left, ? that was a wonderful performance?.
