K. K. Fosu About two years ago, K.K. Fosu teamed up with two equally talented young men and together they rocked the nation.
The Hiplife Trinity as they were known then had the country in their grip and from the latter part of 2002 to a greater part of 2003, they were the toast of music lovers with no entertainment event being complete without them.
Even though one can hazard a guess to say that the hiplife Trinity (K.K. Fosu, Batman and Kokovelli) are no more together, it has no in no way affected K.K. Fosu and he has in no way affected K.K. Fosu and he has continued to gain more in strength and maturity.
Now he is out with his second album ?Anadwo Eyede? which by all indications is bound to garner the young man more acclaim and establish him firmly in the contemporary highlife music scene.
One track that is already on its way is ?Oga? but the track is going to generate a lot of controversy because of its lyrics and already it seems to be the favourite of most DJs.
Even though it is very well arranged track with a good rhythm and sound management, the lyrics are nothing to write home about. They are too strong, abusive and take away so much from the beauty of the song.
Though he has not come out to say who the song is directed at, some people seem to have a fair idea of who it is. He tells a faceless person that it was through him that the person became who he/she is today and that it was on his wings that the person made it in life. It is not about what he said but how he said it that makes it bad.
To add to it, he does not place any veil on the song so even children will understand just what he wants to put across. Another artiste he features, Kwaata also rubs it in more with akwapim rap.
?Anadwo Eyede?, the title track is another good song. Here, K.K.?s smooth voice is put to effective use. K.K. tells his lover that he will maker her a queen of his heart and that he is going to cherish her in his heart.
He talks about all her attributes and why he loves her and says that she has also made him the queen of her heart. With a good chorus and rhythm, this song will be enjoyed mostly because of its lyrics which is hot.
?On Kyere Me? however he is melancholic as he laments about his lover and what she is doing to him. He asks her tell him whether she?s lost her love for him so he will know what to do. In a slow vein and with a soulful voice, he sings that she should come back home because he is lost without her.
K.K. announced his presence onto the music scene with his song ?Adwen? which had the popular refrain ?suu dwe, suu dwe, suu dwe, dwe, dwe? and he was an instant hit. His collaboration with Batman and Kokovelli has been date one of the best to have witnessed in music circles.
Success did not come easy for the twenty three year old, who had to end his education at the basic level through no fault of his. Struggling to make ends meet and earn his keep through barbering, he had to shelve his music dream until fate smiled on him and he joined the Soundz Unlimited Jazz band which was the first step to success.
After featuring on Obrafour, Borax, Deeba, Nkasei, Reggie Rockstone among others albums, the time was ripe for him to launch his career. And launch it he did in grand style. After the phenomenal success of his first album, Kaakyire Kwame Fosu (his real name) is ready for more and his second album might do just that.
