Jay Q is a sound engineer, producer, and a celebrity icon with a vast catalog of hit songs and countless awards to his credit. Beyond that, he has transfixed the world with his jama beats.

As a beat maker, he has enjoyed a level of superstardom but now wants to explore artistes that are talented and go through hustle before recording.

Jay Q, who has always been in the studio recording demos and master songs, always sees the difficulty some artistes go through after recording which include looking for a producer and promotion of songs.

He then decided to register a record label called 'Q Lex Entertainment' to give chance for the less fortunate ones in the music game.

His first project with Q Lex Entertainment was Jay Q’s Platinum Compilation which was a blend of the old artistes (Buk Bak, 4x4, Dr. Poh) which gave birth to new boys (Castro, Triple M, Anaanu Shaka, and Taliban). Success landed on almost all the new artistes as they all released hit albums.

Q Lex Entertainment then tried Dr. Poh. “With Dr. Poh, a lot of people discouraged him; I mean his own friends did not want me to record and produce him. But now am happy with Poh and want Ghanaians to know that he is a true Ghanaian not a Nigerian”, Jay Q said.

Next on the list was Rhoda, the Ga Adangme gospel artiste. Because Jay Q seeks to explore talents, he decided to produce Rhoda who just came to do a demo with him. With Rhoda things did not go well.

Shilo caused a big stir when he hit the Ghanaian music industry with the release of his debut album 'Hello' with Q Lex Entertainment at the helm. Indeed, this album is doing well on the music scene.

“Shilo was way back into hiphop music when I was at Virtual Sounds but I wanted him to change his hiphop ways into local dialects which he did”, Jay Q said.

The new ones that are coming from his camp are Cyborg of Odorkor Kaneshie fame and some surprising artistes. There is also the yet to be released album from Bukom Banku.

“His boxing has been overshadowing his music but now wants to branch into music. "Castro praised Bukom Banku so much that I decided listened to his demo. We are releasing two albums with Bukom Banku”, he added.

Jay Q tells us he has love for all sound engineers like Roro, Morris, Appietus, Na-ce, Don Dee, Hammer, and the rest and hopes all engineers become one.

Using our medium, he will like to clarify some things.? “Appietus had his breakthrough from ‘Rakia’ which was my creation and ‘Odo Elastic’. He also looped Ofori Amponsah’s ‘Otoolege’ and ‘Bonwire Kente’ which were all my creation.

Asked why he has not decided to send Appietus to MUSIGA or court over this issue, he said,? “It is not serious but I just want him to stop making noise that he programmed those songs”.

His success has always been with the media persons, DJs and promoters of Ghanaian music but quickly adds that it’s not easy producing an artiste.

We hope Q Lex Entertainment who has always been unique and different will seek out to help some untapped good talents who face hardships when recording and producing it.

Jay who has so many hits will be bouncing back very soon. Fans of Jay Q should expect albums from VIP, Mad Fish, FBS, Anaanu Shaka, 4x4, Bukom Banku, Cyborg, and more.
