Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) Ghana, in collaboration with its partners in the entertainment industry would hold a world class “Yellow Party” on October 4, 2008 to celebrate Ghanaian sports and music heroes, the MTN brand and the country itself.
Mr. George Andah, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, who announced this on Wednesday, said the party, to be held at the Accra Mall, would kick start the celebration of one year of MTN in Ghana and would also be used to celebrate some 2,424 MTN valued subscribers.
“Another concert will be in Takoradi on October 10, 2008 to keep vigil ahead of the Black Stars World Cup qualifier game against Lesotho on October 11, 2008,” he said.
The music heroes selected to benefit from a special package from MTN include Kojo Antwi, MTN’s own music icon Samini, Jerry Hansen of Ramblers fame and the Winneba Youth Choir.
The sport heroes are Ghanaian international Michael Essien, Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah and Accra Heart of Oak Football Club.
Mr Andah said the heroes were selected from many Ghanaians who had lived the MTN brand values of leadership, innovation, building strong relationships, integrity and the Can-do spirit (LIRIC).
“We are very proud of the heroes and also of our remarkable achievements in one year and most importantly about how Ghanaians have embraced the MTN brand and what the brand stands for,” he said.
Mr Andah noted that the additional 2,424 subscribers who would be attending the party would be selected through an sms question and answer selection process, saying that those who would qualify would be given special codes that would grant them access into the hospitality area on the party day, where they would enjoy the best of foods, drinks and live music for free.
He said besides the specially selected music icons, other artistes billed to perform live at the party include Tic-Tac, Reggie Rockstone, Oheneba Kissi and Kofi B.
“The first ever yellow stage would also be used with the best of production expertise, DJs, MCs, fireworks and more,” he said.
Mr Clement Asante, Marketing Manager of MTN, announced that as part of the anniversary, all pay as you go (pre-paid) subscribers would get 10 per cent bonus when they recharged from midnight of Friday September 26, 2008 to 23.59 hours on Saturday, September 27, 2008.
“Pay monthly (post-paid) customers will also get 10 per cent discount on all MTN-MTN calls with this specified period and 24 per cent of MTN customers will be rewarded with 20 per cent return on all they spend in the month of August,” he said.
The company also launched new line of MTN TV and outdoor adverts to be rolled out this month.
