Accra (Greater Accra), 1 Dec '98 - Mr Joshua Alabi, out-going Greater Accra regional minister, today commended his deputy and all his four district chief executives for their co-operation during his term of office. Mr Alabi, who was speaking at his last meeting with the officials in Accra, said although he was leaving at a time most development projects under the Greater Accra 2000 programme were moving ahead, he hoped his successor would continue with them. Mr Alabi was happy that he was leaving at a time that sanitation problems and chieftaincy disputes had come down to an appreciable level and thanked all those who helped in diverse ways in achieving this. ''I enjoyed working with my deputy, staff and the press and I hope to receive the same treatment in the north.'' He solicited the support of the press in the discharge of his duties in the northern region. Mr Alabi said he spent most of his life in the north where he was bred and assured the public that he is very familiar with the place. Mr Amos Buertey, Greater Accra regional deputy minister, said the region has achieved a lot through Mr Alabi's tenure of office and hoped that he would maintain the same standards in the northern region. He wished him well in his new region, saying: ''we hope you will continue to have interest in this region, especially when some of the programmes initiated are still going on''. Earlier, the minister called on members of the Ga Traditional Council and thanked the chiefs for their co-operation. He hoped they would extend the same treatment to his successor.
