Veteran American born Ghanaian Shooting Guard Alhaji Mohammed’s 16th year as a professional basketball player is on hold due to the Corona Virus pandemic.
The virus has spread all over the world and forced several industries to scale back including sports where several tournaments have been suspended.
Mohammed was set to play for Tunisian giant US Monastir in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) following his signing a week prior to the start of the tournament on March 13.
Conversely, the competition got suspended over fears of the virus spread; there have been over 700 confirmed cases in Africa.
The BAL is run by the NBA and FIBA Africa and its inaugural season was set to commence earlier this month with 12 teams participating.
Monastir was in line to host games in the Nile Conference beginning March 21 with the former University of Louisville player Mohammed on the roster.
Mohammed has played in several countries including Spain and Germany and won the Hungarian League in 2017.
