Former Commonwealth Super Middleweight champion Charles
Adamu AKA the Crusader says his professional career is far from over even
though he has not fought in nearly two years.
Adamu, 17-5, 12 KOs, has remained inactive since losing his
Commonwealth belt to Briton George Groves in April 2010, many boxing insiders
even forgetting him altogether. But the man famously nicknamed the Crusader
says he will be back, only if he gets the right manager.
“I’m not finished with boxing yet, trust me I will be back.
I’m fit, I’m training everyday and I’m ready to fight even today but I have to
get a good manager.
“The sport is very tough with lots of challenges and without
a good manager who will take care of all your needs whilst you are training and
fighting, then it becomes even harder,” a disconsolate Adama told the ALL SPORTS
newspaper.
Also a former national champion, Adamu remains adamant he
will be back because he is a warrior and no amount of disappointments will
discourage him from the childhood dream he has always harboured to be a world
champ.
He stated: “Can you believe I’ve never had any real purse
and no money at all even when I fought in Britain and won the Commonwealth
title?
“Bad managers ruined me but I know when I get a good
manager, everything will be alright. I want to be a world champion. I want to
beat Carl Froch before I retire.”
