Accra, Dec 20, GNA - National and West Africa Super Featherweight champion, Yakubu Amidu will battle Joseph Laryea in the Commonwealth Super Featherweight final eliminator at the Rex Cinema Hall, Kumasi on Friday, December 28, 2007.
The clash, according to information gathered by the GNA Sports tops the bill of the event put together by Sikaprix-Boxing Promotion in conjunction with Adjaba Jewels Boxing Promotion.
The winner of the bout is expected to get a shot at the Commonwealth title against a yet be confirmed opponent. The bill will also see a clash between Kodjo Issah of Kumasi against Tawiah Okweja of Accra in the West Africa Boxing Union (WABU) Middleweight contest over 12 rounds.
Joseph Lamptey and Joseph Kwadjo will battle each other in a National Middleweight eliminator of 12 rounds with Prosper Ankrah and Gary Cudjoe sorting things out in a National Super Bantamweight contest and Michael Barnor taking on Joseph Yartey in an eight round Bantam-Weight contest.
According to the pairings, Safo Tyson of Kumasi will square off against Joe Nyame of Accra in a Super Light-Weight contest over eight rounds while Ben Tutu contends with David Tyson in a local derby in a Featherweight contest also scheduled for eight rounds. In the Super Welterweight contest, Wabil Whitaker takes on Caesar while Sampson Kinkangah pitches his strength against Baba Musah in a six rounder.
The lightweight division will have B. Bawumia taking on Baba Clay, Yaw Seckyie coming up against Twum Farmer while Ben Odammetey engages Corley Collison with Albert Mensah tackling Charles Tetteh all in the same division.
Veteran Iboley Issaka slugs it against Muhammed Bameyi in a National Light Heavyweight Championships over 12 rounds.
