Accra, Oct. 27, GNA - George Ashie, the latest Ghanaian boxing sensation and a graduate of the novelty Mortein Boxing League has made his way into the latest rankings released by the Commonwealth Boxing Council (CBC).
Mr Al Hamilton, foreign manager of the boxer said this in a telephone interview with the GNA Sports from his base in London on Thursday. With the latest rankings, Ashie, a Super Featherweight boxer stands the chance of taking a shot at the CBC Super Featherweight title. According to Mr Hamilton, plans are in place to pitch him against Alex Arthur, a Scottish and the current Super Featherweight champion in England early next year.
Mr Hamilton said the Scottish has up to March next year to defend the title and this they will capitalise on to arrange the fight for the young Ghanaian.
He said his outfit would ensure that the young man is presented with a fair opportunity in the fight as well as an early notification of the bout when arrangements have been completed. Mr Hamilton said that even though it would be too early to predict the outcome of the fight, he is confident that Ashie would give the nation another Commonwealth title.
