Ayitey Powers has exclusively told BOXING IN GHANA newspaper that he is ready to fly down to Accra even today for the much publicized epic boxing showdown against Braimah Kamoko if the Golden Concepts International and GoldenMike Boxing Promotions managers and promoters will send him plane tickets at once.

Powers is also worried about reports the fight is set to be based on a winner-takes-all format but says he is not afraid because he will beat Kamoko any day.

Powers and Kamoko, better known as Bukom Banku engaged in endless verbal war on several of Ghana’s most famous radio sports shows yet agreeing to a deal for the much-sought fight never materialized for such a long time until the world-travelling Powers flew back to Australia where he last fought back in March this year.

He has been training incessantly down under until Henry Manly-Spain, the astute President of Golden Concepts and manager of Bukom Banku gave in to the public’s demand for the big fight to take place with August 30 set for a mouthwatering bill code-named ‘Put Up or Shut Up’ at the Accra Sports Stadium.

“I am ready to fight Banku even though they say winner-takes-all. My manager said no because since we started boxing, we’ve never seen anything like that but I’m not worried. If they are to send me plane tickets, I will sneak behind my manager and come to Ghana to fight Bukom Banku,” he told us via phone.

He added: “When I was in Ghana, they were joking. Now that I’ve left Ghana, they have made posters and fixed a date. I don’t want to spoil the fight. I want the fight. I want to prove to everyone that I am still Powers. So if Banku’s managers are serious, they should bring my plane tickets, bring a contract and let’s sign.”

Powers continued: “I had a contract to fight in Australia on 30th August but I said no because I want to come and fight Bukom Banku. I want to fight winner-takes-all because I know I will beat him any day, anywhere. I’m ever ready, even if its tomorrow I will come. I was even training when you called me. Any time at all, I’m ready.”
