Former World Champion and Hall of famer Azumah Nelson says Ghanaian boxer Joshua Clottey should stay focused despite his opponent’s failure to honour their fight in December this year.
Clottey was set to fight Canelo Alvarez in December but the former WBA/WBC light middleweight champion pulled out due to an injury he picked in training.
This has disappointed Clottey who admitted facing a trauma after the cancellation of the proposed fight in December.
But former WBC Super Featherweight champion, Azumah Nelson, has warned Clottey to keep in shape despite the cancellation of the fight.
“It’s normally sad when such things happen in boxing, but I have one word for him, he has to stay focused and train. Because he doesn’t know when another opportunity will come his way.”
“These whites will do everything possible to cancel a fight if they know their opponent is stronger and hungrier and that is what I see. He shouldn’t be worried, he can get even an opponent before the year ends.”
