Bilal sets eyes on West Africa Lightweight title

Accra, Sept. 10, GNA - Bilal Mohamed, former National Lightweight Champion, is set to take a shot at the vacant West Africa Lightweight title.

Mohamed, who lost his title to Ben Ankrah also known as "Congo Soldier", is scheduled to fight a yet to be named opponent from Benin. The bout under the auspices of the Commonwealth Sports Awards and Ambitions Boxing Promotions, is fixed for Friday, October 5, at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex.

Mr Al Hamilton Chairman of the Commonwealth Sports Awards told the to conclude arrangements on the proposed opponent for the Ghanaian. He said the fight would be one of the best in the season, since information reveals that the Beninoise is one of the finest in his country and capable of giving the Ghanaian the needed opposition. Hamilton also revealed that other boxers would also be on the bill to make the night a worthy one adding that boxing fans would have the value for their money on the said night. Mohamed is tagged as one of the hardest punchers endowed with a lion's heart for any occasion.

He has not had a consistent career following series of misfortunes, but the boxer is confident of reviving his career with a win over his fellow West African in search of greater heights. He mentioned the likes of Micheal Gbenga, George Ashie among others as some of the boxers lined up for the night.
