Ghanaian boxing referee, Rodger Barnor has announced his decision to come out of retirement, saying he is ready to make a strong comeback to his officiating duties in the ring.
Barnor claimed he returned to the sport after being persuaded by several top officials of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA). He told Live 91.9 FM Sports, “Coming back again, it’s going to make me stronger and a better referee than I was before. There are a few people within the GBA who have been talking to me and I came out of retirement because I respect them.”
Referee Barnor retired shortly after legendary boxer Azumah Nelson tagged him as a bias ring official for his conduct on April 26 during the WBA international Junior Lightweight bout between Ghana’s Emmanuel Tagoe and Ronald Pontillas of the Philippines at the Accra Sports Stadium.
