Local boxing icon Braimah Kamoko popularly known as Bukom Banku will face a stern test to keep both his unbeaten record and WBO Africa Light Heavyweight title against Brazilian opponent Pedro Otas on June 25 at the Accra International Conference Centre in the headliner of the GoldenMike Boxing Promotions bill dubbed ‘No Turning Back.’
Kamoko who is the Interim WBO Africa champion automatically became the champion when the original champion Vikapita Mroro of Namibia lost a WBC International fight in South Africa a month ago against Isaac Chilembe.
Now the Ghanaian show-stopper wants to underline his champion’s tag by beating the also unbeaten Pedro Otas. Bukom Banku was supposed to have fought Alejandro Lakatus of Spain but the latter pulled out about a week ago after Spanish doctors declared him unfit with a lung problem.
The Brazilian Pedro Otas however is no cheap opponent at all for Kamoko, 21-0, 16 KOs. The Brazilian is also undefeated with an enviable ring record of 23 fights, all wins, no loss with 19 knockouts.
The second boxing championship to be staged at the plush Accra International Conference Centre by Mike Tetteh’s GoldenMike Boxing Promotions syndicate, Bukom Tsatsu Joshua Okine of Ghana will also fight for the vacant IBF intercontinental welterweight title against Sikhulule Sidzumo of South Africa on the night of ‘No Turning Back.’
Other supporting bouts on the night are a Commonwealth Super Welterweight final eliminator between Patrick Allotey and Joseph Lamptey, Isaac Aryee against Benjamin Ashley in a national Super Lightweight championship and Nigerian Michael Gbenga versus Aduku Nsor in a Super Middleweight contest.
Ghana’s Sam Amoako will also battle Nigeria’s Kazeem Ariyo in an international Lightweight contest with the night’s fixture list completed by a Super Lightweight bout between Frederick Lawson and Mohammed Tagoe. *Credit: Prince Dornu-Leiku
