"Cobra' Kotey faces Hungarian in come-back fight

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA - Former World champion, Alfred 'Cobra' Kotey makes his long awaited comeback against Hungarian wonder-kid Gabor Veto in a light welterweight contest on Saturday, December 11 in Mannheim, Germany.

Kotey, 42, will face Veto, who is 21-years younger in an 8-round contest, an under-card of the Vladimir Klitschko - Dereck Chisora heavyweight championship at the SAP Arena, Baden Wurttemburg, Germany. It will be the first bout in more than two years for the ex-WBO bantamweight champion, who holds a record of 25-1-14 with 15 KO's and is seeking to re-launch his once glittering career.

Gideon Quartey, local representative of the African Golden Gloves Warrior told GNA Sports that his outfit brokered the deal for Kotey, who annexed the WBO Bantemeight title 16-years ago after recording a unanimous victory over Rafael Del Valle in London, England.

He said the veteran boxer has been training feverishly for the clash=

with Veto, who is a former member of the Hungarian national amateur boxing team. Veto, considered the future of Hungarian boxing has yet to suffer a loss in 21 outing with 16 KO's.

Kotey, who leaves for Germany on Wednesday made his debut on November 20, 1988 against Viper Tagoe, exactly one month after Veto was born.
