Accra, Aug. 28, GNA - Square Deal Gym's Raymond Commey defeated David Kotey of the Akotoku Gym in a Featherweight contest at the maiden Africa Golden Gloves Warrior (AGGW) last Saturday at the Prisons Canteen, Cantonments.
Commey, a regular face on the losing side during the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association's (GAABA) championships, displayed an improved output to record a unanimous victory over Kotey in the six-round contest.
The Square Deal Gym product had the upper-hand with a 58-57 win on the score cards of all three judges to serve as a perfect start to his switch to the professional ranks of the sport.
In a Middleweight contest, Daniel Allotey of Akotoku Gym stopped Tricky Commey of Sparta Gym in the fourth round of their clash.
Tricky Commey was no match for Allotey, who combined punches effectively from both hands while the former wandered around the ring in search of cover.
In the fourth round, Allotey delivered a right hook which sent Commey kissing the canvas and he subsequently retired to give Allootey a TKO.
Tahiru Atobila of Dade Gym defeated Stephen Alazoe of Square Deal Gym in the Welterweight division of the Amateur division, with gym-mate Gideon Baah managing a unanimous decision victory over Razak Iddrisu of Akotoku in the Middleweight category.
Nii Ofoli Tetteh of Reformers beat Michael Pappoe of Panix Gym in the Featherweight division whilst Timothy Offei outclassed Samuel Dodoo in the all-Fit Square Gym Light welterweight contest.
