Bukomboxingnews.com has learned that Ghana’s world title hopeful, Richard Commey (23-0, 21 KO’s), is likely to face Mexican Miguel Vazquez (35-5, 13 KO’s) or Italy’s Emeliano Marsili (32-0-1, 14 KO’s) in an IBF lightweight final eliminator.
The undefeated 28-year-old power puncher has set his sights on a world title challenge after vacating his international IBF title due to a lack of willing opponents.
The move by Commey’s camp seems positive as the IBF has paved the way for the Ghanaian to engage in an eliminator clash before facing dangerous champion Rances Batherlemy (24-0, 13 KO’s) for the title.
According to sources close to Bukomboxingnews.com, Commey’s camp is currently negotiating with the aforementioned Vazquez and Marsili for the title eliminator.
“Now Commey has the chance to fight for the final eliminator,” the source said. “We are in negotiation with two boxers, that is Vazquez and Marsilli because on the ranking Vasquez is at 5th and Marsili at 6th so the boxer that agreed to fight Richie will have his name revealed.”
Commey is ranked 4th in the division and is currently in his native country preparing for the pending duel.
