Emmanuel Addo sets 2-month retirement date

US based boxer, Emmanuel Addotei Addo is frustrated at not getting a fight date so much he has decided to give up the profession he so loves.

Addo, nicknamed Money Mosquito boasts a paltry 64 rounds of boxing in just 14 fights since making his professional bow with a unanimous points’ decision win over Raymond Commey on February 20, 2010.

His only career defeat came in what also remains his only fight outside this country when he lost on points to Cameroonian, Serge Mbarga at the Camp de l’Unite in Yaounde on June 25, 2011 but not even switching to the US last year has brought Money Mosquito the fights he so crave in his endless dreams of world championship success.

Many an occasion, Addo (12-1-1, 10 KOs) has had a fight scheduled but something always occurs to cancel the purported fixture. He even retuned to Ghana earlier this year to bid, unsuccessfully to fight Emmanuel Tagoe AKA Game Boy.

The latest apparently was hot Russian prospect, Fedor Papzov who pulled out at the last minute, incensing Addo who clearly has now run out of patience.

“I was to fight with Fedor Papazov but his manager cancelled the fight, the reason is that his boxer can't beat me and my records are better than his. All fighters are running away from me and l don’t know why. It’s painful even sometimes I feel like my career is over but God is the only answer,” Addo told BOXING IN GHANA from his US base.

The 27 year old added: “I’m still looking forward to what is next, I’ll keep training and see what can happen in like two months. Only God knows so I also demand on God to speak early for me. So after 2 months, if no fight, then I retire. Sometimes God knows the reason.”
