Accra, Oct 23, GNA - The Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) will outdoor a new state-of-the-art boxing ring on Saturday, October 25 at the Prisons Canteen, Cantonments. The ring which is valued at 5,000 pounds sterling was donated to the regional association by the United Kingdom-based Haringey Police and Community Boxing Club during their tour of the country last February. Gideon Quartey, Acting Chairman of GAABA told GNA Sports the out-dooring of the equipment will be climaxed by a Special Exhibition contest by products of the regional amateur boxing league. An official of the UK-based Club according to the acting Chairman is in the country to officially handover the facility to GAABA. Quartey said GAABA will take advantage of the ring to invite bids from prospective companies to brand the ring towards generating funds for the Association. He commended their UK-counterparts for the gesture which he said will add to the development of boxing in the country. 23 Oct. 08
