Galley Kudjo wants title fight

Accra Feb 1, GNA - Galley Kudjo, former number one contender to the national flyweight boxing title says he is back with a bang and ready to rumble with any boxer in the bantamweight class for the national title. Speaking to the GNA Sports on Tuesday, the boxer who went underground for about two years said he relocated to the Volta Region to work on his fitness and durability and was happy with what he had achieved.

"I went into secret training for two years to toughen myself and I am happy to inform you that I am in excellent physical and mental condition and ready to fight anybody in my weight category."

He said he had moved up in weight because he felt the quality of boxers in the flyweight category was below his standard and he would not like to kill anybody in the ring in the name of boxing.

Galley said one boxer who dodged him severally was Sumaila Badu, the then flyweight champion who now sits in as the WBO Regional bantamweight champion "who just refused to stake his title against me even though promoters were willing to make the fight."

He said one of the reasons why he moved up in weight was to catch up with Badu and force him to fight him.

"Badu knows he cannot go ten rounds with me and if he doubts it, let him put his WBO title at stake and he will go home vanquished and empty handed."

Galley said he had returned to the gym of coach Teiko "Akisseh" Tagoe and was working out vigorously for a title shot at the shortest possible time and called on matchmakers and promoters to make the fight.

The boxer appealed to credible persons interested in the management of sportsmen to contact him for a deal, as he was without a manager.
