Ghana’s Richard Commey will make a return to the ring on July 28th on the undercard of the lightweight unification bout between WBC world champion Mikey Garcia and IBF world champion Robert Easter Jr. at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Commey’s opponent for the aforementioned date is yet to be announced.

In September 2016, Commey fought Easter for the then vacant IBF world lightweight strap but the American won a disputed split decision.

In December 2016, Commey travelled to Russia and battled Denis Shafikov in an IBF lightweight eliminator, again he lost via a controversial split decision.

Last summer the Ghanaian signed a promotional deal with DiBella Entertainment.

Commey became IBF’s mandatory challenger after stopping Alejandra Luna in round six.
