… fight date Nov 11?
Ayitey Powers also called Ataa Kaa has expressed his
readiness to face World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Light Heavyweight champion,
Bukom Banku later in the year.
In an exclusive interview with yours truly at the York 250
Gym at Mamprobi, Powers said he has meant to fight Banku for a long time to
break his record and the impending duel will offer him that opportunity.
He noted that he will knock out the 2012 Sports Writers
Association of Ghana (SWAG) Boxer of the year.
“I am a better boxer than Bukom Banku. He is just a clown,
you can see he is now going into acting which means he is not a great boxer. I
want him to prove himself when we meet. I will teach him real boxing lessons. I
am the Powerful Ayitey Powers and I will show the world that I also deserve to be
honoured by SWAG,” Powers said.
According to Powers, boxing fans in Ghana have not seen a
good fight for a long time and he prays that his clash with Banku will be a
sell-out. He noted that Banku has been fighting half baked boxers.
He hinted that Baby Jet Promotions owned by football star Asamoah
Gyan may be promoting the big fight alongside the much talked about Emmanuel
Tagoe versus George Ashie clash at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 11,
2012.
Meanwhile, boxing fans who heard Ayitey Powers bragging cannot
wait to see the fight.
One fan said it will be a sell-out and prays that security
will be very tight on that day. Another fan noted that Powers will be the real
test for Bukom Banku as he seems not to be really tested.
A female boxing fan said the fight will be very interesting
as both Ayitey Powers and Bukom Banku know how to thrill the fans. She promised
to be at the ring side to see everything clear.
