Former IBF World welterweight champion, Joshua Clottey (39-5, 22 KOs), has stressed that he is still in the game.
Following his last outing in the ring which was in December 2016 against Gabriel Rosado, the Bukom born boxer hasn’t fought again.
Many Ghanaians believed he has hanged his gloves but the 40 year-old boxer says he will return to the ring in April this year.
“My people are negotiating for my new contract,”he told Boxingghana.com. “Initially i was supposed to fight last year but did not happen. I was in USA for my paper work and i have got my green card because going up and down with the visa thing is a problem for me. So i have a permanent stay in US right now.”
“I have got the green card now so it is time for me to continue with my fighting career, i have told my people that i want to fight April or early May.”
When asked about his opponent, he said, “Right now i’m negotiating with the promoter [Star Boxing Promotions] for a new deal so after that we will talk about my next opponent. I have couple of years so i’m still in the game.”
