IBF Ratings: Commey rises to no.4. Lawson now no.6

Ghanaian duo, Richard Commey and Fredrick Lawson moved closer to their world title dreams after moving up in their respective positions following the release of the July ratings of the IBF world rankings, Commey now number 4 Lightweight from his number 5 spot last month with Lawson also rising a step higher to number 6 Welterweight.

Commey is now only a slot behind Rances Barthelemy of Cuba who is number 3 and three slots behind Dennis Shafikov of Russia number 1. This ranking may make it possible for the number 4 and number 3 to fight for the Final Elimination while the winner may meet number 1 who is Dennis Shafikoiv of Russia.

According to the IBF rules and regulations, the President of IBF/USBA in consultation with the Chairman of the Championships Committee can order such Final Elimination to take place.

While Richard Commey has captured the number 4, his compatriot and also former IBF Continental Africa Welterweight King, Fredrick Lawson moved to number 6 behind Kevin Bizier of Canada at number 5, Diego Chaves of Argentina at number 4, and Sadam Ali Sadam Ali of the USA at number 3. Number 2 and 1 are not rated.

This is also a huge opportunity for Frederick Lawson to get a shot for the Final Elimination and get a chance to meet champion Kell Brook of England.

Other Africans in the IBF world ratings of July 2015 are Helen Joseph who maintains her number 2 at the female featherweight division while Zarika Kang'ethe is rated at number 12 in the same division.

Isaac Chilemba of Malawi is rated number 5 in the Light Heavyweight, Hassan N'Dam of Cameroon number 5 and Chris Van Welterweight of South Africa is rated at number 7 in the Welterweight division while Paulus Ambunda of Namibia maintains his number 12.
