Braimah Kamoko claims his initial decision to withdraw from his fight against Ayittey Powers on December 26 was only a ‘strategy’. Popularly known as Bukom Banku, Kamoko stunned the whole Ghana with his social media declaration to pullout of the Boxing Day bout which is sponsored by Joy Dadi Bitters.

The controversial boxer claims his opponent, Ayittey Powers was being backed by organizers to win the bout and to drive away the sleek Range Rover being offered as one of the prizes for the eventual winner.

This declaration threatened plummet the initial investments made by the organizers and sponsors towards promoting the bout which will be staged at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

It even saw the Ghana Boxing Authority threaten sanctions on Bukom Banku once he failed to honour the fight. But the 37-year-old reversed his decision in another social media post and promised to give Ghanaians a show on fight night.

Bukom Banku now claims his initial rants of pulling out of the fight was only a strategy meant to distract his opponent Ayittey Powers.

“I have been training all the time. [Withdrawing from the fight] was a strategy,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“Ayittey Powers think I have not been training but he is in for the shocker of his life.

“I am not joking this time around so I invite the President, Ministers, Otumfuo and everyone to come and see this great fight.”
