Kaneshie Complex Hosts Six Grudge Battles

Boxing action comes back to the Kaneshie Sports Complex as Landmark Promotions and Management Limited lines up six grudge battles for 12 strong fighters, on Friday, October 3. Leading "The Three Stars" bill is the fight between ABU lightweight, king, Abdulai Amidu, and Mohammed Kimbu of Zaire in a 10-round contest.

The Ghanaian, with 13 victories from as many fights, 12 of them via the short route, sees the fight as another opportunity to confirm his status as a potential world beater.

Against the Zairean, who holds a record of 14 wins, three defeats and a draw (nine wins by way of knockout), Amidu will have to reach deep into his reserves to enact another classic win.

His strength in power punching and hand speed notwithstanding, Amidu will find Kimbu quite tough as demonstrated by boxers from the East Africa region. Hard-punching Ange Adjaho of Benin will also be in the ring against "Hard Rock" Zakaria Salifu in an eight-round bout.

Adjaho's search for a big fight against Amidu, or ABU super featherweight champion Kpakpo Allotey, is yet to materialise and he will use the occasion to restate his heart's desire.

James "Hot Ice" Toney also takes on Francis Wamba of Senegal in an international middleweight contest. In other fights Alex Brew takes on Mohammed Bilal in a national and West Africa lightweight elimination bout while Solomon Tetteh fights Samuel Danso.

Moro Tijani of the Armed Forces will engage a yet-to-be-named opponent in a super lightweight clash.
