NSA boss Atippoe cannot help u Ray Quarcoo

Avowed fighter for the development and progress of Ghana boxing, Solomon Otoo is once again at the throat of Ambassador Ray Quarcoo, telling the outgoing amateur boxing chairman to walk away from the leadership of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) for good.

Otoo, an Organiser of the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) has the full support of some of Ghana’s most powerful amateur boxing stakeholders who are united in calls for congress and elections to elect new executives to run the sport in this country.

Referring to the GABF constitution, Otoo said Quarcoo’s 4-year term ended last month and that congress must be called for elections to be held for new leaders to emerge to salvage the cradle of boxing in Ghana “because there are a lot of competent people who have invested a lot in boxing and can lead the association better.”

According to Otoo and other key stakeholders pursuing the objective of ensuring the smooth running and efficient administration of the sport to help young athletes reach their full potential, Ray Quarcoo has so abysmally failed to achieve anything but repeated failures during his tenure of office to the benefit of his selfish and greedy interests.’

“He must go, I want to tell him that the National Sports Authority Director-General, Madam Alice Attipoe cannot help you Ray Quarcoo. If you say you’ve resigned, go home because your friends at the Sports Authority cannot help you,” Solomon Otoo said.

He also accuses Ray Quarcoo of turning the running of amateur boxing into a one-man show where his own selfish desires reign supreme over the collective good of the sport and its’ forward march.

“They no longer have a quorum to take decisions because he has banished all the executives he was put into office with and it’s left with only himself and the Technical Director so they do whatever they like and it’s not right in our constitution,” Otoo explained.

In effect, Otoo insists all they want is for Quarcoo to walk away and forget about the position.

“So if you are going round to Ministries, Flagstaff House and other so-called ‘high places’ to get support, that will not help you because we have a constitution to govern amateur boxing in this country,” the astute matchmaker.

Otoo continued: “According to the constitution your 4-year term expired this April so the right thing to do is to hand over and let’s go to congress to elect new and competent executives. Amateur boxing is the bedrock of all professional boxers and we can’t allow someone to take its success for granted.
