The promoter of last Saturday’s explosive boxing show at the Accra International Conference Centre, Michael Tetteh says there is no turning back for all the fighters that they are trying to push forward to take world titles.
Speaking to yours truly, he noted that sometimes slogans go a long way to push or motivate people to be their best or give off their best.
“Boxing is a very hard sport and the boxers need a lot of encouragement to carry on fighting, we just love the sport and this is how we can make our contribution and make Ghana sports better. I think Golden Mike has done well enough even to deserve the title as promoters of the year, considering that we have promoted five tournaments within a short time,” he said.
According to Golden Mike, crack boxers like Bukom Banku, Emmanuel Tagoe, Joshua Okine, Michael Gbenga, Issac Aryee, Fred Lawson and others need a push which not many can do.
He praised his sponsors, Servi Star and Big Foot Construction Company for supporting the promotions.
He expressed that a great opportunity awaits local boxers who excel and give off classic performance as the big world boxing bodies are always watching Ghana to come up with a new sensation.
He congratulated Emmanuel Tagoe for his performance and promised that very soon he will be like his mentor and trainer Professor Azumah Nelso, however all will depend on loyalty and commitment to training and discipline both off and in the ring.
Meanwhile, Samir Captan, President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has been elevated to become a member of the World Boxing Association Africa Committee to represent Ghana.
The announcement came from Andrew Smale the 4th Vice President of the WBO Executive Committee. He said Ghana has always produced great boxers and great champions who have ruled the world for a long time.
He advised boxers to be disciplined and take instructions from officials, but not do their own things as it can lead to other things that can jeopardize their careers.
