Cape Coast, Nov. 23, GNA - Nana Benya Bee of Cape Coast combined stamina with skills to knock out Alfred Quaye from the Billy Quartey Gym, Accra, in the fourth round of their Super Bantamweight tournament' staged at the Top Yard Cinema, Cape Coast.
The tournament, which was organised to rekindle interest of boxing among the people of Cape Coast and the Central Region, saw the Region's boxers emerging winners in most of the weight contests.
It was organised by Punch Right Boxing Promotion based in Cape Coastin conjunction with the National Sports Council.
Benya Bee who entered the ring with confidence, right from the onset gave an indication of what was under his sleeves and forced Quaye to 'kiss the canvas' on two occasions in the first round.
Bee continued to land heavy punches on the body and face of his opponent in the second round to win the round.
The best round for Quaye, however came in the third round when he matched his opponent squarely to win that round, but with support from his numerous home fans, Benya Bee went all out in the fourth round and knocked his opponent out in 2 minutes 45seconds.
In the Featherweight contest, Tony Akrutu of Central Region beat Nana Yaw Ofori of Eastern Region when Referee Judge Theophilus Addo stopped the fight in the third round to save Ofori from further punishment.
In the Light-Weight contest, Peter Chubby of Central Region beat Hassibu Omar by a 2-1 decision while in the Light-Welterweight contest Stephen Quaye also of Central Region knocked out Majid Lowel, from the Eastern Region in the second round.
In the Welterweight division, Felix Amasedzi also of the Central Region, beat Yakubu Adibo from Eastern Region with an unanimous decision, while in the Middleweight contest, Ada Tula from Central Region also beat Ahmed Muntari from Eastern Region also via a unanimous decision. In the Middleweight Professional contest over eight rounds, Daniel Alloty from Akutuku Academy, Accra, gained a technical knock-out over Tawiah Oko= jan also from Accra in the second round in 2minutes 14seconds, while Daniel Adjei of Accra gained a technical knockout over Moro Gani Yu also from Ac= cra in the third round.
