… both promise knockout wins
In their efforts to stage the biggest fight in Ghana, Bukom based Box Office Sports Promotions led by Alexander Ntiamoah - Boakye have managed to secure Friday 25th April, 2014 as date for the much talked about bout between Ayitey Powers and Baimah Kamoko alias Bukom Banku at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Addressing the Press at a charged atmosphere when the two boxers signed the fight contracts, Ntiamoah said both boxers have been handed gh¢ 2,000 each, totaling gh¢ 4,000 for their preparations.
He noted that they would be fighting in the cruiser weight division in the non-title bout as they as promoters are still talking with the sanctioning bodies to put at stake the Pan African Title or Continental title. “We want to cause a surprise in Ghana by staging the Biggest Fight Ever, we are very much prepared though we no not have sponsors. We welcome any sponsors to support us organize the fight very well, because security would be tight as Bukom Banku has invited the President, HE John Mahama” he said.
According to the promoter, there is a handsome reward for the winner and prayed for a good day and a good fight. He assured boxing fans of other interesting supporting bouts, with massive entertainment.
“Certainly we shall see some of the nation’s film stars and musicians, even top professional footballers will grace the day. All we want is for the media to hype the fight” he added.
During the signing, Bukom Banku showed some maturity as he ordered his fans not to insult Ayitey Powers because he is his friend and has fed him in the past when they were amateurs. This statement provoked Powers to explode and asked when and how can he stoop so low to be fed by Banku. Then when it got to the time to sign, Bukom asked Powers if he could read the contract and spell CONGRATULATION, Powers got furious and said he is more and better educated so Bukom should rather read the contract to the hearing of everybody, which Bukom did and there was applause.
Both fighters have predicted a knock out victory. Bukom Banku said Powers will go done or retire in the seventh round, whilst the Australia trained and highly inspired T.B. Joshua faithful, Powers pointed that the bout will be over in round five.
Many fans of both boxers and the media turned up in numbers to witness the signing. Some members of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Alhaji Toffik, Ahene Truly. Naa Darkua Dodoo, the PRO and members of the GBA Media Committee were there to witness and support the boxers.
Meanwhile, news reaching yours truly state that Bukom Banku may join Ayitey Powers to fight in Australia.
