Bukom Snake Malik Jabir vows to bite

off Liam Walsh on February 19

Ghana’s

Malik Jabir has sworn to live up to his nickname Bukom Snake and bite off the

challenge and claim the Commonwealth Super Featherweight from incumbent titlist

Liam Walsh when he fights the Briton on February 19 at the York Hall, Bethnal

Green in London, UK.

Malik who currently holds the West Africa Lightweight title

he won last year courtesy victory over Ben Ayivor, has exclusively revealed to

SportsInGhana.com in Accra

that he is fired up and ready to bring home the Commonwealth crown insisting

that champion Walsh will be no match on fight night. “By the grace of God I’m

going to knock the guy by round 6. I have trained well, I know myself and I am

ready to beat him,” Jabir said.

Walsh defeated another Ghanaian Maxwell Awuku only on

October 23rd last year to win the title vacated by fellow Briton

Ricky Burns who has since won the WBO Super Featherweight crown. Now the man

famously called Bukom Snake says he is going for a double mission when he faces

Liam Walsh.

“First I will beat him to take the title and avenge the loss

of (Maxwell) Awuku for Ghana.

Then secondly, I hope to spur on my colleague Mandigo (Jospeh Laryea) to also

beat Ricky Burns when they fight in March for the WBO title,” Malik Jabir has

confidently proclaimed.

But above all else, 30 year old Malik Jabir says his dream

of becoming a world champ is still very much alive. Having lost a unanimous

decision to Craig Doherty back in 2004 in a bid for this same Commonwealth

Super Featherweight title, Malik Jabir is overly concerned with making up for

the opportunity to champion his world title quests.

“I don’t want to talk much but I’m just pleading with my

Matchmaker Solomon Otoo Lartey and my promoter Kermah to just maintain their

belief in me and put me on the plane. It’s about time the world got to see the

stuff I’m made of and I promise Ghanaians and all my fans that I will not let

them down. I want to fight for a world title and that means I have no choice

than to win this fight,” boxer Bukom Snake has pledged.

Reiterating the stance of the boxer is his trainer Ernest

Boakye who says he has supervised a very effective training for Malik Jabir

indicating his readiness to dethrone Walsh.

“Malik is in the best shape of his life and he has not

rested at all since we got the notice for the fight. He’s been hardworking and

serious with training and I can confidently say that I believe he is ready to

win this fight. We are also camping together with WBO Intercontinental champ

Mandigo so we have an experienced team

to learn from,” Coach Boakye has told SportsInGhana.com.
