Accra, Nov 1, GNA - Ebenezer Tetteh of Sonia Boxing Gym grabbed his first win at the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association's (GAABA) League on Friday when he chalked a knock-out victory over Emmanuel Adjei of Fit Square Gym in their Light Heavyweight contest. Tetteh, who was tasting his third bout of the League surprisingly came back to floor Adjei, who had been in devastating form from the onset, much to the shock of the fans at the Prisons Canteen, Cantonments.
In a typical David and Goliath affair, Adjei, the smaller of the duo defied his size and sped off with series of punches directed at the face and body of Tetteh who failed to capitalize on his long reach to take control of affairs after the first two rounds. After being subjected to severe punches in the first two rounds, Tetteh came up strongly in the third round and quickly unsettled Adjei, who appeared weary as he countered with some feeble punches Surprisingly, Tetteh's effort was enough to invoke the mandatory count by referee Amerley Turkson but Adjei survived to continue the fight.
Adjei from then was seemingly dazed and 15 seconds later Tetteh was on hand to unleash several punches at his face and this time round the Fit Square-lad failed to beat the count, prompting referee Turkson to stop the contest.
In other bouts, Habib Ahmed of Wisdom Gym defeated Moses Dormenyo of Square Deal Gym via a split decision in a Welterweight clash while Sulemana Tetteh also beat Musa Rahman Lawson courtesy a unanimous decision in an all Wisdom Gym affair in the Flyweight division. Issa Samir of Stadium Gym outclassed Bright Ayala of Wisdom Gym in a Lightweight contest.
