Thousands of boxing lovers yesterday thronged the Kotoka International Airport to welcome the new IBF Bantamweight champion from the United States of America.
Agbeko aka "Fresh King" barely three weeks ago dethrone his Nicaraguan opponent in California, USA by a seven round technical knockout.
He was met on arrival by the chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority(GBA) Mr Mosses Foh-Amoaning, Dr Owusu Ansah of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and other dignitaries.
"It was a dream come true, after eight years absence of world title, I will step up my training, esteem discipline and promise to defend it for a long time," he told the press shortly after his arrival.
And as part of preparation to give the new champion a red carpet treatment, the organizers of the MTN soccer academy will host Agbeko this afternoon in a short press conference which will be live on Metro TV.
According to the CEO of Metro Tv Mr. Talal Fattal "Agbeko has done Ghana proud and we at Metro deem it fit to grant him the honour to share his success story with the entire nation on air."
