Accra, Aug. 24, GNA - The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) has sealed a sponsorship deal with Voltic Ghana Limited.

Under the deal, Voltic Ghana Limited will provide the Federation with 70 cartons of Voltic mineral water (0.5L bottle) and 350 bags of Voltic sachet water at a cost of GH¢3,000.

The deal which spans from August till December 2010 is geared towards supporting the National Amateur Boxing Team, the Black Bombers in their preparations towards the 2010 India Commonwealth Games and the Federation's proposed National Model Team Week-end Training Camp.

Voltic Limited thus becomes the sole official water sponsor/provider of the Black Bombers for the period spanning August 96 December 2010.

Mr Jason Schmidt, Managing Director of Voltic Ghana Limited, said that the package forms part of the company's general support to the promotion and development of sports in Ghana.

Nii Nortey Dua, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports expressed his Ministry's gratitude to Voltic for their laudable gesture.

He, however, pleaded that in subsequent support the company should consider converting some of its products into cash for the use of the amateur boxing team.

The Deputy Minister called on other Associations under the National Sports Council to emulate the shining example of the GABF by seeking for appropriate sponsorships since government cannot solely finance the entire needs of the various national teams.

He requested all sponsored Associations to disclose their sponsorship packages so that the Ministry can activate tax exemptions for the sponsors.

Mr Ray Quarcoo, President of GABF who was delighted at the package said it has ended the Federation's long search for refreshment to run the =91steam engines' of the Black Bombers as they train towards the 2010 India Commonwealth Games.

He appealed to other corporate bodies to come to the aid of the Black Bombers with cash and other support in order to motivate them to bring laurels to the nation.

Mr Quarcoo also out-doored boxing kits secured through other sponsorships for the Black Bombers.

The Memorandum of Understanding covering the sponsorship was signed by Messrs Schmidt and Quarcoo to seal the deal.

The Black Bombers are currently undergoing non-residential camping at the D.G. Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra towards the Commonwealth Games.
