NORTH American Boxing Federation (NABF) champion Ben "wonder" Tackie of Ghana, will step up his claim for the undisputed world title with a 12-round unification fight against U.S.B.A 140 pound champion Teddy Reid on January 18, next year.
Reid will stake his USBA championship belt against Tackie’s NABF version in a winner-takes-all deal that will also pave the way for a big money fight against undisputed world champion, Kostya Tszyu of Australia.
A Russian native, now an Australian citizen, Kostya Tsyu at the weekend, unified the world 140-pound division with a second round technical knockout over previously favoured Zab Judah.
Before the unification bout, Tsyu held the WBC and WBA titles while Judah held the IBF version.
The camp of Tackie has agreed to the terms of Teddy Reid, also rated by the IBF, for the winner of the January 18 fight in the U.S, to have a mandatory shot at Kostya Tszyu’s titles later in the year.
