10 finalists battle for Stanbic Money App prize

10 finalists have officially begun a battle for the ultimate prize of the Stanbic App Challenge.

The finalists, in an interactive review session, demonstrated how their various apps work to the judges and a cross section of the media

The Stanbic Money App Challenge launched in March 2016 with the aim of engaging programmers and software teams to create innovative financial education tools will see Easy Finance, Finance Now, FinTimes, Kasanoma, Kudify, Money Matrix, Sikapong, Stanbic Saver, Y2K and Zealous battle for the ultimate prize.

The App Challenge, a national mobile app development competition, forms part of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

The competition will end on August 24, 2016, and final prizes will be presented on the 9th of September

The winner of the competition takes home GHC10,000, the second takes home GHC5,000 with the third taking home GHC3,000 with other souvenirs from Stanbic Bank Ghana.

Mr Mawuko Afadzinu, Head of Marketing and Communications at Stanbic Bank Ghana said, “The Stanbic App Challenge has the capacity and potential to touch lives in this country.”

He explained further “the app will make it possible for people to live fuller and more complete lives using technology. The Stanbic money app will enable people to live better, run their business better, have a greater fulfilment in their lives and generally have a better handle and grip of their personal finances, over their financial lives”.

25 financial literacy app prototypes, built for Android and IOS platforms were submitted for the App Challenge.

These apps had various ingenious tools designed to help people better understand how to manage their money and achieve their financial goals.

Each submission was evaluated, and the ten finalists were determined based on conformity with financial literacy, creativity and originality of solution, viability of the concept, and thoroughness of the submitted materials in compliance with contest requirements.

During the interactive review session with the judges on August 19, 2016, the 10 finalists demonstrated how their various apps work.
