Ghana will, by the end of this week, take delivery of 116 of 200 buses meant to augment the fleet of the Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMT), Minister of Transport Dzifa Attivor, has told Morning Starr host Kafui Dey in an interview on Tuesday February 10.

The Minister has also asked the management of MMT to salvage some of its faulty buses and get them back into operations as part of efforts to help the public transportation situation in the country.

The expected delivery of the buses comes on the heels of a recent overhaul of the MMT’s management and Board of Directors by President John Mahama following agitations by some staff over missing buses, which they suspected some Board members of stealing.

The former Managing Director, Noble John Appiah and his deputy, John Awuku Dzuazah were ordered to step aside for investigations to commence into the operations of the company.

According to a statement signed by chief of staff, Prosper Bani, President Mahama asked Brigadier General I.B Quartey (Rtd) to take over the management of the company "pending the conclusion of the investigations."

The beleaguered former Board Chairman, Osaberima Ansah Sasraku III, in subsequent interviews with the media denied any wrongdoing and said investigations would eventually vindicate him.
