2017 national best cocoa farmers tour UK

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has sponsored 3 national best cocoa farmers for 2017 to the United Kingdom on a familiarisation tour of cocoa processing facilities and other related events. The tour forms part of COCOBOD's awards package for its award winning farmers.

The farmers who made this trip include Mr Osman Yakubu, 2017 overall national best cocoa farmer from Sefwi Boako district in the Western North region; Madame Cecilia Danso also from the Sefwi Boako district and Mr. Philip Essien from the Twifo Praso district in the Central region.

The farmers who are accompanied by some officials from Public Affairs Department of COCOBOD would be away for two weeks. As part of the activities drawn up by the Ghana Cocoa Marketing Company (UK) Ltd, the team visited Ghana International Bank (GIB) in London to learn at first hand the operations of the bank where the proceeds of the sales of Ghana's cocoa are received.

The farmers were received by Mr Richard Agbenu,General Manager, Business Development of the bank and briefed on the operations of the bank. The team was conducted round the banking facilities after the briefing by Mr Agbenu and Mr Abrar Ahmed, Head, Trade Finance Operations.
