Accra, April 24, GNA - The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) would on Thursday launch activities to mark its 10 years anniversary of establishing the Ghana branch office. Planned activities for the year-long anniversary include the launch of a new syllabus, which had been necessitated by the changing trends in the global financial scene.

Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama and the Global President of ACCA, Mr. Dennis Yeates, who will begin a three-day official visit to Ghana on Thursday, would grace the launch of the anniversary. Alhassan Haruna, President of ACCA Ghana told journalists on Tuesday that the Association would use the occasion to examine itself and adopt strategies on how to move forward.

Mrs. Zuwera Mohammed, Accra Country Manager of ACCA said the Association had, in the past ten years scaled the difficulty of students having access to study materials through the signing of a contract with EPP Books Limited, which sells the books on subsidised prices to the students.

This, she explained had led to the growth in the number of students who passed the examinations as well as the quality. Another challenge that the Association had overcome is the placement of its students for internship programmes through a discussion with employers.

On the change in the syllabus, Mrs. Mohammed said ACCA as a policy outdoored a new syllabus every five years and this is done through broad consultations with stakeholders to ensure that the students upon qualification were able to meet the changing needs in the global economy.
