The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) is reviewing its credit policy document to empower zonal managers of the Bank to administer loans at their respective zones.

Mr. Alhassan Yakubu-Tali, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank revealed this at the maiden edition of the “ADB Meets the Community Forum” in Tamale at the weekend. Mr. Yakubu-Tali noted that “ADB is currently reviewing its credit policy document to ensure an improved and easier access to credit by farmers and other operators in the Agriculture value chain”.

He said the Bank was reviewing its credit policy based on feedback from customers to help shorten the loan turnaround time for customers throughout the country.

According to Mr. Yakubu-Tali, ADB takes the concerns of customers seriously and has therefore decided to empower the zonal heads to be able to approve loans up to a certain threshold. “The processes are in an advanced stage and as soon as they are completed, zonal managers should be able to approve loan facilities up to a certain threshold at the local levels”, he revealed.

The Deputy Managing Director noted that “as part of the Bank’s broad strategy for 2018, a direct community contact initiative on the theme: “ADB Meets the Community Forum”, has been rolled out.

He stated that Tamale was chosen for the first in the series of the “ADB Meets the Community Forum” because of the strategic importance of the Northern Region and Tamale in particular to the operations of the Bank.

He said the maiden edition of the forum and the many others to be organized in the other operational zones of the Bank in 2018 are aimed at bringing together customers and other stakeholders to solicit new ideas to enhance service delivery and to develop new products for various customer and value segments.

The programme attracted customers, members of government agencies, a cross section of members of the public and a high delegation of royalty led by the Gukpegu Tuu Naa Abu Issah Safian.
