The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) has expressed worry about what it described as “the continuous involvement of a particular Ghanaian business and the owner in everyday issues that border on corruption.”
A statement signed by Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, Arnold Boateng, Henry Haruna Asante, Abu Ramadan and Davis Opoku Ansah, leading members of pressure group, pointed out that “it is obviously clear that government is simply bereft with what to do, and how to go about this epidemic of crass corruption engulfing this country.”
The President, AFAG noted, should stop honey mooning with words and come to terms with deeds.
According to them, the current issues relating to SUBAH Info Solutions is one the whole society is interested in, especially about who caused what, where, how and when.
While AFAG will not hold brief for SUBAH Info Solution, it stated that “the telecommunication agencies are not to be glorified with their overt interest in profit-making and continuous repatriation of hard-earned foreign currencies abroad.
“Where other businesses have been involved in issues which are unclear to AFAG, we have stood by the interest of the masses in calling for investigations.
It added that Ghanaians should have true value for their money and that “every pesewa must be accounted for irrespective of who colludes and connives with who to cause the mess.”
Many businesses, they said, have suffered and continue to suffer at the hands of persons who chose to provide selective social advocacy and justice.
“Fair or not, the society has not been helped by the indecision on the part of the President in cracking the whip, and or laying bare the issues for Ghanaians to fathom. Therefore the question arises: How long shall businesses receive genuine or unfair bashing from persons eager to see justice or playing the ostrich?”
The statement recalled how AFAG in 2010 broke the news on the installation of devices at the National Communication Authority (NCA) and telecos operating sites by the Global Voices Group (GVG) to monitor the international gateway project.
“We are very keen on the issues raised against SUBAH Info Solutions.”
