Bibiani (W/R), March 27, GNA- Ashanti Goldfields Bibiani Limited (AGBL) has granted six needy pupils of Lineso and Pipiline near Bibiani, scholarship from the basic level to the senior secondary school The pupils have been admitted to the Donkoto local authority primary school in the Atwima district of Ashanti.
Mr Thomas Nyarko Danquah, Manager in-charge of administration of AGBL, said the award covers school fees and uniforms.
He said the company was touched by the plight of the children when Mr Brent Horochuk, Managing Director of AGBL paid a familiarisation visit to the area and found them loitering.
Mr Danquah said since formal education formed part of the company's prime concern and one of its social responsibility and the plight of the children whose parents were not able to give them education due to financial difficulties was recognised and the company decided to help them. He urged parents of the children to ensure that the children attend school in order to merit the award.
Master Kramo junior on behalf of his colleagues expressed their appreciation to the management of AGBL for the concern shown towards them and promised that they would work hard to merit the award.
