AGI pays visit to EU

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has paid a familiarization tour of the offices of the European Union (EU) in Brussels, Belgium.

The tour was to gain insight into the EU’s single market policy as a way of properly and strongly prosecuting AGI’s advocacy on regional integration in the West African sub-region.

A release signed by James Asare-Adjei, the President of AGI, said the tour was under the AGI-BDI partnership project for policy advocacy.

The AGI delegation was taken round offices including the European Parliament.

“At the European Parliament, the AGI delegation was taken through the process for the passage of legislation involving the European Council, the EU parliament and the Council including its lobbying process,” the release said.

The delegation led by Mr Asare-Adjei also paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s envoy to EU, Morgan Brown.

“The discussions explored business prospects between the Ghanaian private sector and the Belgian business community with the Ghana embassy as the key facilitator and AGI as a window for investors to Ghana, while supporting Government initiatives to expand trade to Europe.”

Mr Asare-Adjei also briefed Ghana’s mission in Brussels on efforts by the Association in complementing government’s to enhance macro-economic stability in the country.

“The trip was successful with the insight gained on regional integration and the building of essential business ties at the private sector level, along with opportunities for business matching and networking,” the release over the weekend concluded.
