Atobiase (Ash), June 13, GNA - The ARB Apex Bank would introduce a new product called "Home-Sweet-Home" (Efie Ne Fie), to enable settler groups in particular areas to direct their savings to their home towns and villages.

The financial institution would also install booths at vantage points from where customers of rural banks could check their accounts. Mr E.K. Kwapong, Managing Director of the Bank, at the 13th annual General Meeting of the Atobiase Area Rural Bank at Atobiase in the Adansi East district on Saturday, announced these innovations. In a speech read for Mr Kwapong, he said about 40 rural banks would be computerised on pilot basis and this would be extended to all the other rural banks so that customers could withdraw money from any bank with the Apex Money Card.

He, therefore, called on the new Board of Directors for Atobiase Area Rural Bank to work hard to enable the Bank cope with innovations in rural banking.

Mr Adjei Acheampong, Assistant Director of the Association of Rural Banks, called for collaboration between the banks and the Ghana AIDS Commission in educating the people on HIV/AIDS. He advised the banks that since their survival depend on their customers, they (banks) should show concern about the people's health and well being.

Mr Stephen Kwaning, Chairman of the Interim Management Board (IMC) of Atobiase Area Rural Bank, was confirmed as the substantive chairman of the Board of Directors.

He advised shareholders to put an end to anonymous letter-writing about Board members and Bank Managers because it undermined the development of the banks.
